Personally it depends on how upset I am. If I'm very upset it comforts me a wee bit. I believe this is just a leftover habit from my charismatic days. You
know how dependent they teach you to be on prayer to the detriment of actually being a responsible human being. If I'm just having normal life problems I
couldn't care less whether anyone prays for me. If I had a small cut on my toe I'd certainly not expect prayer, so I don't see the difference in
that and day-to-day problems.
I think what I find annoying is the assumption by others that I would find this comforting, that I'm just like them. I now know how all those tolerant unbelievers felt when I'd presumptuously tell them I was praying for them. Like those unbelievers, I now politely thank the person for praying for me while inwardly rolling my eyes.
