Oh yeah... I know about it.
A lovely piece of Latter Rain theology that gives this name to those who are supposed to lead the way for the return of Jesus Christ by essentially taking dominion over the earth. You want to know why I left the denomination I was involved in? This is one of the reasons. It's pure "New Apostolic Reformation" conquer the world and rule it in Jesus' name "crusader speak". Here's a decent fast primer on it and it's kin. herescope.blogspot.com/20...place.html It's mentioned a lot by C. Peter Wagner, Cindy Jacobs, and the rest of the Elijah List crowd and their ilk. Had I actually looked into it earlier instead of assuming that the church I attended was the same as any other, I'd have bailed years ago instead of in the middle of this one. If you have ANYONE of your acquaintance considering getting involved in it do everything short of cracking across the back of the head with a blackjack to stop them from getting involved. It's quite possibly the most dangerous heresy out there right now because of it's "dominionist" nature. Plain and simple it's conquer the world in the name of Jesus Christ, and rule it in His name. And for some odd reason, I don't think that the Muslims (among others) are going to go along with this little imperial-fest willingly. |

Wow, I never expected such a strong reaction so early on in the tread.
Why I bought it up: My wife has been a stay at home mom for the last 1 1/2 years. She has now decided to get a job and has started working at a retail outlet. She ran into an old friend from church who was greatly angered at the fact that my wife is working. She told my wife that she is disobeying God by working because our son is of the Joshua/Moses generation and it is up to the mother to prepare him for his future duties. My wife was very offended and was fairly rude. That night this lady arrived at our house demanding to speak to us. I was so angered at her arrival that we entered into a very fiery debate over the churches doctrine. We fought about everything accept this Joshua generation nonsense because I knew nothing about it. Thanks for you reply. =======================================

You're welcome.
But do research for yourself, and have some questions ready for Ms. Doctrine Cop the next time she comes over to exercise a "holy warrant". For example, read Proverbs 31:10 and the verses following where the virtuous wife is mentioned. She's a businesswoman who earns money for the family. Ask this woman how the woman mentioned in Proverbs is a virtuous woman, while your wife who is earning money for the family as well is not? If you try hard enough, you can probably get her so worked up that you can call the pastor of her church the next day and have her chastized for daring to attempt to usurp the God ordained authority given to you over your house when she is neither a man, nor your wife. Just a suggestion. |

This lot is all about twisting and distortion.
They take Matthew 28:19-20 to mean "nations" as nation states where the real meaning in Greek (assuming I recall correctly) of nations means ETHNIC groups. Can anyone please tell me just how one would baptize a country, in all likelihood by immersion, without having to submerge the entire geological region? You'd need a tank at least the size of the Pacific if you want to do that to Canada, America, Russia, Australia, or some other large country. Get what I mean? Their doctrine is built entirely on dreams of conquest. "All Nations Since Jesus has been given authority over all the earth, the gospel of the kingdom is to be preached in all the world as a witness unto all nations. In English, when we use the word nation we are typically referring to a political entity. We refer to the United States as a nation. China, Sweden, Indonesia, Chile, and South Africa are nations in this sense. In contrast to our English understanding, the Greek word translated as nation in this passage generally refers to an ethnic entity. That word is ethnos, from which we derive our English word ethnic. In particular it refers to the Gentile (non Jewish) ethnic people groups. Hence, one nation (political entity) may include many nations (ethnic people groups)." www.pfrs.org/commentary/matt24_14.html |

The problem is that they would take us with them.
