There's a big Pentecostal rally going on at Ford Field in Detroit today, I've been reading a lot about it and considering a post. Then I saw this article on Yahoo...which really doesn't try to downplay any on the crazy NAR stuff, for a change.
I guess the premise of it is they believe, basically, that God is allowing a bunch of bad things to happen in Michigan because of tolerance of Freemasonry and Islam...and of course also homosexuality and all the usual political big bads. Well, frankly...I think that's ridiculous, and I guess so do a lot of other people in Michigan. (Of course, I'd love to know what the Pentes I used to know have to say about all this...)
Couldn't be...for example bad decisions made by the automakers going back to the 1980's or two decades of inept governers or the fact that NAFTA hurt Michigan probably more than anywhere else in North America, no, let's blame the Muslims. How the hell does that make any sense? Fortunately, based on what I've been hearing I'm not the only one who questions their premise. Even the one Pente guy at work was kind of questioning it once he saw some articles that I showed him. (People from the church by my house are going to this thing I guess.)
All in all, the whole thing seems seriously like an expensive, pointless distraction from reality and dealing with the real problems that the City of Detroit and the state of Michigan have.
Has anyone ever been to any of these big Pente rallies?? Just curious.
