Don't most groups...especially religious groups...revere their founders? For example you don't hear much about other Pentecostals maligning Charles Parham or William J. Seymour...assuming they know who those people are...or saying anything bad about the Azusa street revival. Despite some obvious shadiness, the Scientologists still revere L. Ron Hubbard, the Mormons respect Joseph Smith...all of these people despite some serious issues (some acknowledged by their groups, some only by critics) haven't been 'swept under the rug' how bad do you have to be in order for your own group to try to pretend you weren't all that...even though without you they wouldn't be around?
