Well, I don't know about you guys, but the Byrds have been a major influence in my music. I have been playing Byrds-style on my guitar for over 40 years. They were the pioneers of folk-rock, country-rock, space-rock and who knows what other kinds of rock (maybe gospel-rock?) To learn how to become a rock band, they all saw the Beatles' movie "Hard Day's Night". They bought the same guitars as the Beatles played, then made history by singing Bob Dylan lyrics, Beatles-style, to the rhythm of the Beach Boys' "Don't Worry Baby"...thus was born "Mr. Tambourine Man". Some radio stations banned their hit, "8 Miles High", believing it referred to taking drugs (similar to the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds", and scads of other songs).Their hit country-rock album, "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" contained the overty Christian songs, "I Am a Pilgrim" and "The Christian Life". Slag the message if you want, but give the Byrds their due
