I think the Target hate is also social class related, since Target attracts a more affluent shopper and the store is concerned about maintaining a certain image.  Most Target stores come off as orderly and stylish, while Wal-Mart and their shoppers are only concerned about getting everything as cheap as possible.  Considering that many of the pentecostals I grew up around were not very affluent at all, could be a way for them to feel better somehow.

I think Sam Walton was the one who carried the Christian image of the store, and from what I vaguely remember, it was a much better store when he was alive.  Now, Wal-Mart really doesn't seem to care who is distributing information in front of the doors, or the bums trolling the parking lots.  Its really annoying, and I think degrading to even let those girls sell their cookies in front of the door.  Rarely have I ever seen that at Target.
