As I remember the report- the "youth" were connected with one of the megachurches over there... and there were STRONG hints that they were "working under orders". There was a car-full of them when they were caught- something like 5 of them, and they'd been "working" for a few days.
There were also reports of the same thing happening in other counties- but that was the only report where they were actually caught in the act, and as I remember they also confessed (probably with pride) to destroying over a thousand signs. Most of this also didn't make the news (as if I should expect the conservative news sources to actually expose church wrongdoing!)
And I would agree about calling them terrorists... they might hate the term, but they DO use fear/terror to try to keep people "in their places"... and that means not voting for liberals or liberal issues.
There were several letters to the editor complaining about people coming into the writer's yard and destroying any signs supporting democrats or liberal issues. If I remember one writer, it had happened repeatedly over a period of months- no sooner than a sign would go up, that night or the next day it would be defaced or destroyed. Sometimes a few a week.
Of course, the police didn't do much of anything about it. I guess us Liberals don't count as citizens.
