Most Pentecostal and Charismatic churches do not constitute a cult because they do not live in common on some central piece of land.

However, the characteristics of charismatic movements and cult movements are similar. The closest movement to a cult is the Oneness Pentecostal movement. This is because of the extreme controls on television and dress in public. However, most Oneness Pentecostals do not require everyone living communally, although I do know of a few of them that do this.

Indeed, the characteristics are frighteningly similar, and the recovery strategies are probably similar. But, we do not deal with cults on this forum because of legal issues, and it is outside the scope of this forum.

But, we can use books on cult recovery as a guide to recovery from Pentecostal and Charismatic experiences.

Steve Hassan has written perhaps the best books on cult recovery, and I highly recommend him as aids to recover from Pentecostalism.
