I just remembered something that happened back when I was still a cult member that I think qualifies as unusual words, in that they were accurate but contrary to Pentecostal teachings.

Even back then, things just never seemed to go right (or very rarely went right). It seemed that my prayers were never answered, or it seemed that things went the opposite of what I prayed. It was not a good time (and things have only MARGINALLY improved since then).

Anyway, I was at this shopping center, and had just come out of a store. A strange person (whom I'd never met and haven't seen since) walked up to me and said that God told him to pass a message on to me.

He then accurately described some of the (really weird and strange) things I was facing (I almost wondered if someone who knew me had been talking with him, because they were so unique and extraordinary) and described EXACTLY where I was and what I was feeling.

This is the funny part- what he said went against Pentecostal doctrine. He accurately described how (paraphrasing/etc now- it's been 30 years) "You pray with faith believing, and your prayer isn't answered. You are doing the right things, but the wrong things happen." and so on. He then told me that a day would come when if I prayed, it would happen, and that good things would come and at a point in the future that my prayers would be answered. The funny thing was that he accurately described exactly what I was feeling- that I was doing the "right things" yet my prayers weren't answered. (Which goes contrary to their preaching). He also said something to the effect that it wasn't my fault and emphasized that point. (Again, going against the sort of stuff I got in the Assemblies). After he was finished, he walked away. I THINK he wished me well or something like that.

Again, memories are rather fuzzy. I could only give a rough and generic description of him today.

Thirty years later, things haven't really changed. It's still setback after setback and bad things one after another. I wish his "prophesy" would come true. We could do with some good things happening and our needs being met.

Anyway- this is probably a different sort of "unusual words".
