Why would any church say that a gay person is "hard" to "win for Christ?"

presumably we're "hard-to-win" because they're asking us to give up all hope of ever finding someone to fall in love with and spend your life with, live alone or marry someone you can never be attracted to, and be ostracised and looked down on at the same time as doing all this, just for how you were born. And they're not asking anything like that of themselves. So it probably makes us less likely to be (fundamentalist) christians.

I also know lots of (mostly liberal) LGBT christians. At the same time i know a lot of ppl who are very pissed off / freaked out by church in general - and actually i think thats justified considering how we're treated by a lot of them. And its not all churches or all christians but i think for a lot of people its hard to make the distinction with people with the same label/language etc as someone who has caused them a lot of harm.

On a positive side, i actually find that because most ppl i know at church are gay and the background there they have more understanding than i think most other liberal/mainstream christians would about church causing people problems, even tho i think a lot of my problems with pentecostalism were far wider than just being gay and i feel they dont get a lot of it - i think that understanding really does help and they dont make things worse.
