The other difference that occasionally emerges is that the Pentecostals often have tighter rules to follow than the Charismatics. I thought that there were differences in the music where the Pentecostal music was earthier, more rhythmic, and sometimes more in your face than the Charismatic music. But they both fervently believe in speaking in tongues and the "gifts of the Spirit," it seems. If I were to distill the movement I would say that all Pentecostals and Charismatics necessarily believe and practice what is called (1) Speaking in Tongues, and (2) Operation in the Gifts of the Spirit, however they may define it and to whatever degree they may pursue such activities and beliefs. Are there any comments with this distillation on the ESSENCE? The ESSENTIAL differences between Pentecostals and Charismatics appear to be (1) Socio-economic, and (2) the degree to which they pursue the Gifts of the Spirit, and (3) the degree to which the place emphasis on certain rules, spoken or unspoken, and (4) the TYPE of rules imposed. What do you think?
