Triple 6,

Chancellor is the one who called me a heretic for using the dictionary definition of the word "faith". "a sincerely held belief..." :chin He tends to be very strident with his opinions. On another thread in one of their other forums, he said that self-esteem is pride, so self-esteem is bad. Wonder why so many who come from extreme faiths have low self-esteem, inability to make decisions, feelings of failure and a tendency toward depression. He also got all out of whack about women who "usurp" men's power. :dunno His opinions are very rigid, to say the least.

Even though she came down on us kind of hard, I like to read the stuff that Newman posts. Her posts are very balanced and intelligently written. Nathan's too and a few others.

To be honest, the Chancellor guy scares me. Not in the way he would assume, he would think I had holy fear, but he just flat out scares me. I fear that it will be attitudes such as his- that the church should deal with their stuff inside the church and "evil world" stay out- that is going to make Christian persecutions a self-fulfilling prophecy. We already have the taint of the RCC moving around and covering up pedophile priests for decades and decades. "The world" is already tired of the rhetoric of preachers on tv begging and manipulating people out of money. I know from participating on other religion debate boards, that were just open to debating religions and philosophies of all kinds- not specifically Christian- that people are tired of being called "lost" and "hell-bound". They don't want their children exposed to this kind of manipulative fear- do this or get eternal punishment. They want more reasons for being called "lost" and "hell bound" then you have to believe or suffer, but not getting any good, thought our reasons except circular logic. I used to be scared of having non-christians friends. For a major portion of my adult lilfe, my friends and acquantences and socializing revolved around "christian stuff". So i started to think that people not in church were just a bunch of carrousing, immoral freaks. IT's a sad thing to live in fears, to have so many fears that to get untangled from one fear is to find that you are still bound by 20 others.

By the way, DC, you are doing a good job holding your own over there, but I doubt it will make a ton of difference. Do you think it would be possible to scan that children's book into the computer? I would love to read it.
I'm mortified... petrified... stupefied... by you.
