Mookey, I know absolutely and definitively what you are talking about. In face I started a fairly long thread on this very topic on my forum which you can view hereif you want.

I'll repost the opening posts below in case you don't want to venture to another site at the moment... I think everyone who departs a faith system goes through something like this.

Red Pill or Blue Pill? (Read this first)

I posted the following also on the Torah Observant Israel site, but figured it's very pertinent here also.

==========

It's a very difficult decision to make. Your decision could change your life in very dramatic ways, depending of course on how you decide.

To anyone who is contemplating taking the red pill, I strongly advise you take the "time-release" version. It's much easier on your gut.

To anyone who opts for the blue pill, I don't blame you one bit. It is most definitely the easier pill to swallow. The red pill will always be there waiting for you, should you decide at a later date to take it.

On the other hand, if you take the red pill now, the blue pill will not be there for you later. Keep that in mind while you contemplate on which one to take.

Consider this as genuine heartfelt counsel from one who cares for you.

Shalom to all who seek shalom,
Steve

I should also add... if you do opt for the blue pill, please consider not reading any more from this or similar forums or websites. Reading from them basically will neutralize the effects of the blue pill.

For those not acquainted with this "blue pill/red pill" terminology, you have to watch The Matrix. Or just ask me and I'll fill you in.

Shalom,
Steve

Re: The Blue Pill or the Red Pill?

Shalom YahChannah,

In the original movie The Matrix, the protagonist of the story was a character named "Neo" played by Keanu Reeves. Neo is given a choice of destinies to take at one point early on. He has already been given a little taste of what the Matrix is all about, but only a small taste, just enough to whet his appetite of curiousity.

It is at this point which he is offered two pills that will determine whether or not he is to learn anymore about the elusive idea of the Matrix. He is warned that if he takes the red pill, there is no turning back. He will have had his eyes totally opened to the realities of the Matrix that so far in his life have been cleverly concealed from him (and from everyone else in general as well). Once the veil of deception has been lifted, there is no way to go back to the comfy sleep of blissful ignorance.

On the other hand, he is told that he can stop all of this now and take the blue pill. He is told that he will simply wake up and go on his merry way as though nothing ever happened. Basically he'll wake up to just sleep though the rest of his life in blissful ignorance of the hard reality that he really lives in.

Neo chose to take the red pill. Later on in the movie, he is having a conversation with one of the other members of the small crew of people who were now in the know about the Matrix. The other member is empathetically lamenting to Neo and saying, "I know what you're thinking now.. WHY DIDN'T I TAKE THE BLUE PILL!?!?".

I sorta felt this way when I first began to study the bible problems last year. I still do sometimes. Why didn't I just take the blue pill when I had the chance?

Now there is no blue pill to take. It is too late for me.

Shalom,
Steve

So that's how the thread started. When I started it, I was pretty down in the dumps but was on the cusp of an upward trend which has led me to where I am now, in perfect peace with my decision and no worries about this life nor any that may continue afterwards. Now I truly am getting more enjoyment out of life and I am more compassionate to my fellow man than I ever was. Must be the devil! lol
