Thats an absolutely beautiful story of healing thanks for sharing it.. I to had lots of trouble with similar guilt stuff. Like absolute fear not to like something to much or else GOd would want to take it away from me.. Its such a soul destroying exercise.. Thiers way to much focus on the negative 'what not to do and how to make sure your different from everyone else' and not enough of how can we make a positive difference and how can we join with others who are interested in a better world etc.. always ends up us and them
I like the new incarnational movements where people are trying to work themes of jesus into the natural rythums of everyway life.. In this way thier constructing church around people to meet their needs not vice versa.. FOr example a community meal where you have a real feast for communion. No hanging your head in a pew in shame // its a celbration a a party invite your friends lets celbrate.. Meets a real need has a purpose is something normal.. We have a breakfast book club which is also along this same approach..
How do we get from a guy like jesus who is completely incarnational who journeys with a close group of people he is in RELATIONSHIP with. he's at weddings, funerals.. parties. even working! he's where the people are and thiers something about him that draws them! He crys with people laughs with people is accused of drinking to much wine. Hangs out with those that would by most christian standard be a risk to taint thier righteousness.. When need be he can confront social injustice and teach crowds of people in a way that links to contemporary issues in thier life..
Yet today we build a church if the poeple don't come seek us out its because thier evil sinners.. We confine gods presence to a bs alter call where god mysteriously turns up and does his shiz when we appease him with bs shouts of praise and babbling in strange language where any normal person would think where crazy.. at the alter call you open yourslelf up desperate that this person has a special annointing where god can touch your need .. they say some quick prayer over you yell a few power words and your life is ment to be dramatically changed all with NO RELATIONSHIP... they know nothing about you they never loved you nor even took the time to listen to you and they'll be off to the next church when the service ends.. If church can't be integrated into normal life it sucks i reckon its always going to localise god to a place instead of seeing him in everything we do..
I agree naimas Churches are dangerous they might turn you into someone jesus spoke against the most :/
