Same here in Canada -- Candidates religion doesn't really come into question for most. and if any candidate does try to play the religion card their likely to get tarred and feathered. ( google Stockwell Day)
Our former PM Stephan Harper is an evangelical Christian but that was never really pushed as campaign point in any election. B/c in Canada "Evangelicals" are not really a "voting block" cause we vote all over the political spectrum. Back in the the day two of the more far right wing and left wing parties in Canada ( the Social Credit and NDP respectively) were both founded by Evangelical pastors. Note the NDP was founded by the grandfather of actor Keifer Sutherland
