I think you did alright.

I immediately noticed the person you were debating using Calvinist terminology. Personally it's been my experience that few Dominionists of any sort these days are Calvinists. Many of the far more common Neo-Pentecostal or Pentecostal Dominionists in my experience would not know what Calvinism was, much less what its doctrines were. Total depravity of man?? Unconditional election?? What?? As evil as they seem to be the Rushdoony-type Dominionists at least seem to know something about historical Christian doctrine, even if they twist it all to hell. Many Pentecostals almost can't be considered 'Christians' in the historical sense.

I've literally meant Pentecostals who didn't know the first thing about Christian history, creeds, whatever, beyond whatever they might've gotten out of a history book in a class they half paid attention to in school. In other words, aside from Roman persecutions and the Crusades, and maybe a little bit about Colonizers spreading the Gospel to the Natives, not much. One girl I briefly dated didn't know what the Nicene Creed was until I explained it to her. She seemed shocked that I had to, at one point, recite it in school...for a grade. I went to Christian schools, yes, but come to think of it, I think she may have as well...

Rick Warren, among other people, has said that Christians should be as dedicated to Jesus as the Communists were to Uncle Ho, Lenin, and Stalin and yes, as dedicated to Jesus as the Nazis were to Hitler. No surprises there.

What does kind of shock me is...why doesn't this guy realize that there would BE no more elitist or totalitarian government than a Dominionist theocracy??
