I've always had a problem with the reliance on healing. Pentecostals are notoriously bad eaters, non-exercisers and grossly obese. They don't drink, smoke or do drugs (openly) so they think they are "honoring their temple."
Then, after years of half off appetizers and buckets of Diet Coke they develop cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc and it becomes "Oh God Heal me, We're believing God for a miracle!"
I just want to shake them and say YOU could have prevented this! You abused your body, ruined it, got sick and now you're begging God to bail you out for your hedonistic irresponsibility! It's sick and deplorable.
I was discussing this with a friend last night. It's one of the upsides of atheism. Belief in God spawns this irresponsible way of living because you believe God will bail you out. When you release that belief and understand your health is in your own hands it forces you to live responsibly. If I want to live I have to be healthy. My family has poor family health so rather than just keep plugging away at Baconators and Chalupa's I decided to go vegan. Because MY health is MY responsibility.
I hope there is a God that heals people, but I'm not going to live like that's my backup plan, and I find it disgusting Christians who do.
