I started just putting cash into the offering plate and within five weeks received a letter I could no longer vote and the board was considering disciplinary action against me because I was not paying tithes. You know, the foundation of Christianity is the doctrine of salvation through the sacrifice of the son. The Jews had hundreds of laws they were supposed to follow in order to be right with god, and nobody was able to do it. That made everyone a sinner. (One of those laws, by the way, was tithing.) In order to be absolved from sin, whatever it was, the Jews had to offer sacrifices through the priests in the temple. The whole point of Christianity is that human beings - who were not able to live perfect lives - were forgiven and absolved of their sins, once and for all. When the Father looks at a human being, He sees his Son, whose perfect sacrifice paid all of the tokens for the great subway ride of life. (I'm paraphrasing here a bit. lol)

Now, where do these so-called religious leaders get off, re-introducing the Law into the lives of Christians? Here's the answer: They want the money. They want to count on X number of dollars every week so they can pay their bills. I say to them: Get a real job!
