Yesterday a Pentecostal friend took my kids toys at a get-together and hid them. I had to ask for them back. My son's toy was a Pokemon and my daughter's was a unicorn. She wanted to talk to me outside privately where she told me Pokemons are "actually demons, and unicorns are demons." She knows this because "God told her." I had a similar experience in past with Pentecostal friend who fought with me over my giving my son Harry Potter. Today, the Pentecostal woman sent me "proof' from the Internet which was articles by charismatic Christians claiming Pokemon are demons. The people in her church circles tend to not be college educated, have zero critical thinking skills, and fit what psychologists call "fantasy prone personalities" that see demonic conspiracies behind everything. I was curious to hear the experiences some of you have had with Pentecostal paranoia about cartoons, fairy tales, etc... I've known Christians to be against the Wizard of Oz, Bewitched show because of witches in the story. Jerry Falwell said one of the Teletubbies was gay. What has been your experiences in church with crazy people worried about fictional characters?? I don't think they're capable of a rational discussion or debate because they are 100 percent convinced they're right.
