From a Biblical perspective, why is this not considered idolatry. From a purely Christian perspective, it almost certainly is. From a Fundamentalist perspective...Can their Pastor save them from Hell? No, the Pastor's just a man, I've only heard of a few Pente preachers who will emphasize this point, and they're usually from the saner churches.
Another one...Where do Pentecostals get the idea that giving their Pastors money and stuff will somehow cause them to get blessings from God...or whatever?? It seems a little too convenient that...who tells them this?? The Pastors!
If someone tells me that giving them ten bucks now will mean I get a hundred later, Okay, they better be a hella good investment broker or something, and there better be some sort of a contract. If somebody has a rep for being good at gambling, maybe I'd give them money based on that premise but I'd sure hit 'em up later.
Why do people just believe this crap about "Sowing Seeds" and this and that, which of course always comes down to money, and never hold the people who tell them these lies accountable when it doesn't happen?? I attempted to argue that volunteering, helping out at the Church, doing stuff for other people etc. was the same thing, but my ex-wife always insisted that tithing meant money, and of course Pentes will give way beyond that in my experience.
What makes them think anybody other than their Pastor is getting anything out of this arrangement?? For that matter, what makes them think God or their Pastor actually gives a rat's arse? Most Pente preachers I've ever met don't care much for their people in my experience.
For that matter, where in the Bible do they even get the idea that the Preacher is somehow the Voice of God?? The Bible tells us to listen to that still small voice inside ourselves, to obey the commandments and listen to the elders of the church. Ain't nowhere that it says a mere man who is living on this earth today is the Voice Of God, even the Prophets in the Bible didn't necessarily make such claims, even Moses who probably could have said it didn't.
Just another one for the "Where do they come up with this stuff?" file, I guess.
