For those of you who have experienced other churches, some of which may have been harmful, how do hardcore, intolerant, judgmental fundamentalist churches compare to Pentecostalism?

Last weekend I attended a class at the local Unity Church. The title of the class was "What is Unity?"

The toughest part was just walking in through the door of the church. The funniest part was that I was a bit late and found the class sitting in a cirlce. The only seat available was next to the preacher. At the end of the class was a prayer where we had to hold hands. I mean, every religion has some things that are quirky.
Would you say that some people/institutions have more quirks & extremes than others?

I do not have much of a negative story concerning my church or childhood. I was raised Apostolic & I still go to the same church. I go because it is a honest & reliable church with longevity (approaching 100 years) of the same Pastoral family. I do not attend there because it is Apostolic nor do I believe the Apostolic religion is the only right religion. I attend because it is a good place to be. I got an email from a Pentecostal relative that talked all about how he used that method to get some kind of comfort from God. He even says that the first scripture he pointed to didn't seem relevant, so he prayed, opened the Bible and pointed again.

I hate nature videos that show death or pain of animals. This video however shows such a bravery that I couldn't help but relate it to the way people SHOULD act.

It looks like Christianity is divided because, instead of divine revelation from the word of God, it is human wisdom that made people believe differently about the word of God.
