Thought this was interesting...there's a Christian group urging people to spend less on Christmas shopping and donate to charity instead.

I wonder what the Pentes think of that?

The few P/D/F type people I know nowadays seem to be big on spending money this time of year...

my last man-friend , (blackdog you know) suffered from audio hallucinations. plus he heard screams in his head. It was in an attempt to help him that I put my toe into charismania again, got dumped by him, and eventually found this board. Anyone think that these things have a spiritual basis or are they just part of a terrible illness?

I stood up for myself!!! I did it!!! And I want to thank the really GREAT people on this board.
A charismatic-christian friend was always on the phone doing what charismatics do. Bitching about their pals, Accusing, Competitive crap about how God had blessed them blah blah blah... Plus, the little put down remarks that they slam into the conversation...

I've been wondering about that for a while...do Pentes watch reality shows and junk like that? When I was around them the trend hadn't hit yet, the only one on was "Survivor" which my ex always watched.

American Idol...Dog the Bounty Hunter...Survivor...

Fox News in a general sense...

Most radio and TV news seems intended to entertain or propagandize...only news show I even bother with is Rachel Maddow once in a while.

Have any of you subconsciously hung on to certain aspects of Pentecostalism after leaving? Was reading the thread that went off on an "aside" talking about Amy Grant and Carmen when I remembered some things I've held on to. We will be getting with a couple of kinfolk that are Pente. They know a tiny bit about the abuse that I've been through because of the P/D/F churches, but they insist that it was a local thing and not characteristic of the Pente churches at all (we all here KNOW this is wrong). They also have had some bad experiences with the churches- but seem to gloss them over.

I read something earlier today that's got me wondering about something...

Are there any requirements in Pentecostalism for someone to be an "Apostle" or whatever? I read an article that said Julius Oyet, one of the guys behind the Ugandan anti-gay bill, was "Self-designated."

I know that it doesn't take much other than a supposed "calling" to become an Pentecostal preacher...

But are there any actual requirements to...
